Boynton Beach Is Changing Forever - Here's What You Need To Know
Boynton Beach Mayor Rebecca Shelton spoke on May 1st at the official State of the City Address from the Arts and Cultural Center in Boynton Beach. Here’s a recap of her speech. Mayor Shelton provided a mixed presentation comprised of resident comments paired with footage taken throughout the city. The program highlighted our businesses and the strong positive community spirit felt by our locals. It showed Boynton residents were proud to live in the city.
Mayor Shelton stated that Boynton Beach is evolving in a positive way that is supportive of its residents’ and business owners’ needs. She was quoted as saying we are “no longer waiting to move forward.” “The city is building intentionally, strategically, and with purpose.” We are “no longer a city of potential. It’s a city of performance, a city of investment, and a city of opportunity.”
She mentioned the feeling of new excitement and momentum will be noticed throughout the city. The Mayor reflected on our past and where we are headed. She stated the city is poised for the future in a positive way due to city government managing the growth of the city and how they are handling it successfully.
Comments on the presentation about the creation of a downtown area were positive, and city officials are focused on keeping housing affordable as well. We want and need to attract new residents as well as move forward. Homeownership is key for the city to move forward for our workforce employees, and Boynton is managing it strategically and economically.
The new 16-acre town square area near Boynton Beach City Hall is going to form a new cohesive spot for locals. It will enable businesses to operate here rather than in pricier surrounding areas, and residents will finally have a real downtown hub to visit and enjoy.
This and many other projects all over Boynton Beach will help carry our city into the future. Mayor Shelton spoke about the city’s vision and management and how it has helped set up conditions for business, and this has been followed by numerous healthy investments in our city related to the downtown area.
A healthy cycle of leadership decisions on growth and development has been followed by significant investments throughout the city. This led to 35 completed development projects in 2025 alone. Improvements in housing, parks, and infrastructure are the result of reinvestment into Boynton Beach, and it is all positive news for Boynton residents and businesses.
Mayor Shelton mentioned that the city is expanding in a controlled way, with intention, and with a focus on public safety.
