A major West Boynton senior-living project has taken a big step toward construction. The Winsberg at Green Cay, planned near Flavor Pict Road and South Jog Road, closed Sept. 2 on about $380.6 million in bond financing to help fund the new continuing-care community. Current plans call for 189 independent-living residences, 15 assisted-living units and 16 memory-care units, along with parking garages and extensive community amenities. Palm Beach County previously approved financing for the project, which is being developed by Green Cay Life Plan Village.
The project is expected to be substantial in size. Design materials describe The Winsberg as a 17-story high-rise, making it one of the taller new developments planned for western Boynton. For local residents, that means another large senior community, more traffic and activity around the Jog Road corridor, and a significant addition to an area already seeing rapid growth. The new financing suggests the long-planned project is moving closer to becoming a reality.
A $15 Million Upgrade Is Underway At Bethesda Hospital East
Bethesda Hospital East, near Seacrest Blvd and SE 23rd Ave, is getting a significant makeover as part of a $15 million effort to modernize its Emergency Department. Baptist Health is redesigning and renovating the ER with more private treatment rooms, newer technology and a layout intended to help patients move through care more efficiently. The City of Boynton Beach also lists the Bethesda Emergency Department and Imaging Center among major projects that are approved or under construction, making this one of the more important healthcare upgrades happening locally.
The improvements matter because Bethesda East is one of Boynton Beach’s main destinations for emergency care, and the area’s population continues to grow. Baptist Health says the project is designed to give doctors and nurses a more modern space to treat serious emergencies while improving the overall patient experience. Bethesda has also been expanding specialty services, including cardiac care, as the hospital continues investing in more advanced treatment options close to home.

West Boynton Just Got A New Indoor Pickleball Option
West Boynton residents now have another way to play pickleball without dealing with the heat, humidity or rain. Palm Beach County has announced a year-round indoor pickleball schedule at the West Boynton Recreation Center, located at 6000 Northtree Blvd Lake Worth Beach. Open play is Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The facility offers three indoor courts, and the cost is $5 per person. The timing for comes as pickleball participation continues to grow locally. County data show the center recorded 1,805 indoor pickleball participants in 2025, up 28% from the previous year. For local players, the air-conditioned courts provide a convenient and dependable option to stay active throughout the year.

In 1950, Edward E. Berry opened the Top Hat Drive-In along U.S. 1 just south of Boynton Beach. The small roadside restaurant quickly became a popular hangout for local teenagers, who could order food without ever leaving their cars. An early photo even shows the Top Hat advertising Rich’s Ice Cream - a little snapshot of Boynton life during the drive-in era.
