Boynton Beach commissioners are expected to consider nearly $9 million in equipment financing at Tuesday night’s City Commission meeting. That makes this a significant decision for local taxpayers. The city wants to enter into an $8.98 million lease-purchase agreement, meaning Boynton would receive the equipment now and pay for it over time instead of covering the full cost upfront. But the public agenda summary leaves some basic questions unanswered. What exactly is the city buying? Which departments will use the equipment?
How long will the payments continue, and how much interest will be added to the final cost? Those details matter because the money ultimately comes from city revenues funded by residents and businesses. If the equipment replaces aging vehicles or machinery, it could improve city services and reduce repair costs. Still, with nearly $9 million involved, residents may reasonably want to know exactly what Boynton is getting and whether the purchase provides enough value for the money.
Burgers, Fries And Nostalgia: Doc’s Is Coming Back
A longtime South Florida favorite is getting ready for a comeback in downtown Delray Beach. Doc’s All American, the old-school burger, fries and soft-serve spot at 10 N. Swinton Avenue, is expected to reopen at its original corner near Atlantic Avenue and Old School Square. Doc’s first opened in 1951 and became a familiar stop for generations of local families before closing in 2021. Now, developer Banyan Group plans to bring it back as part of a larger project called City Center Delray.
The site will also include a new three-story building with restaurant, retail and office space. The good news for longtime fans is that Doc’s is expected to come first, with a reopening targeted for 2027 after permitting and demolition work. For Delray residents, it means the return of a local landmark. For Boynton residents, it means a nostalgic nearby stop for burgers, fries and ice cream could soon be back in business.

It’s the final week to explore this unusual exhibition featuring 90 Japanese woodblock prints and illustrated books spanning more than 250 years. The artwork explores yōkai — ghosts, shape-shifting animals, strange creatures and other supernatural beings from Japanese folklore. In 1941, Boynton officially changed from the Town of Boynton to the City of Boynton Beach. At the time, it was still a small farming and fishing community, and World War II brought coastal blackouts and wartime restrictions.
