Downtown Boynton Beach could soon be serving up more coffee, pastries and places to eat, thanks to a $600,000 economic development initiative. At its October 20 meeting, the city's Community Redevelopment Agency approved revised grant rules designed to attract restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops while filling vacant storefronts. Approximately $150,000 is earmarked for rent assistance and $450,000 for property improvements. Businesses must cover half of eligible expenses themselves. That's a serious investment in making downtown a place people actually want to visit.

But what about the small businesses already there? The revised rules favor certain businesses and new investment, potentially leaving some existing shops with fewer opportunities for financial assistance. Meanwhile, newcomers could bring more foot traffic, benefiting neighboring merchants. For residents tired of watching downtown's seemingly endless transformation, the big question remains: Will this latest investment finally deliver the lively downtown Boynton has been waiting for?

Big Changes Are Coming To Boynton's Northern Neighbor

Remember that massive development we told you about back on July 21? Well, things are moving along at Windsor Place, the 40-acre project at Hypoluxo and Lyons roads in the Lake Worth area, just a few blocks north of Boynton Beach. And there’s some fresh news brewing. Starbucks has joined Chase Bank and Tide Cleaners as a signed tenant. The project will feature more than 15,000 square feet of retail and professional space, with roughly 8,500 square feet still available for lease.

But there’s a lot more coming than your morning cappuccino. Windsor Place also calls for 194 apartments and 206 townhomes, bringing hundreds of new households to the area. And here’s where things get interesting. Traffic estimates suggest the completed development could generate approximately 3,264 additional vehicle trips daily. For Boynton residents who regularly travel Lyons Road, more shopping and dining options sound terrific. Another few thousand cars? Well, that’s a different conversation!

Four West Boynton Schools Earn Some Serious Bragging Rights
Four West Boynton schools have earned a spot on Florida’s 2026 Schools of Excellence list, giving local students, teachers and parents plenty to celebrate. West Boynton Middle, Christa McAuliffe Middle, Sunset Palms Elementary and Hagen Road Elementary all received the prestigious recognition. Even better, all four earned A grades, with Hagen Road climbing from a B last year. Not too shabby!
The designation recognizes schools that consistently rank among Florida’s highest performers. For families in western Boynton Beach, it’s a welcome reminder that great things are happening inside local classrooms. And while students might prefer an extra day off as a reward, their teachers have certainly earned a little applause.
