The Truth About What's Coming Out of Your Faucet in January
Is Your Tap Water Safe? What Every Boynton Beach Resident Needs to Know NOW
Boynton Beach residents will notice a temporary change in their tap water during routine maintenance from Thursday, January 4th through Wednesday, January 24th. The city will alter its standard disinfection process to maintain high water quality standards. This change may produce a noticeable chlorine smell and taste, but the water remains safe to drink. Residents using home dialysis machines or maintaining fish tanks should consult appropriate specialists before the maintenance period begins.
Say Goodbye to Tolls? DeSantis' Plan Could Save You Thousands
Governor Ron DeSantis has proposed eliminating tolls for Florida residents at the last cabinet meeting of the year, a move that would benefit Boynton Beach residents and all Floridians. While Florida has had toll-relief programs before, a total elimination would be unprecedented and comes at a time when every penny counts for local families.
The Governor suggested funding roads through tourist tolls instead, citing affordability concerns for residents. Florida's tolls generated about $1.3 billion in 2024 through over 700 miles of roadways, with funds going toward construction contracts and road maintenance. The new proposal would shift these costs onto visitors rather than local drivers. Details will emerge as research and planning continue.

The water mainteance timing is interesting, almost a full month. I had a similar situation in my city a few years back and the chlorine smell was intense for like two weeks. Good callout on the dialysis and aquarium warnings tho, most people dont think about that stuff until its too late. The toll elimnation proposal is wild btw, if DeSantis actually pulls that off thats huge savings for commuters. Shifting it to tourist tolls makes sense policy-wise but I'm curious how they'd enforce that without making it a bureaucratic nightmare. Do they check residency at every toll plaza? Seems logistically complicated.
