This Intersection Could Change The Ag Reserve Forever
Early-Stage Plans Ignite Fierce Resistance Before Reaching The County
The southeast corner of Boynton Beach Boulevard and State Road 441/7 has been flagged by developer West Boynton Ranches as a potential site for 1,020 new homes and a large big-box retailer, possibly a Costco. While the proposal is still in its early stages, it already faces strong resistance due to land-use restrictions and community opposition. The site lies within the Ag Reserve, a 22,000-acre area protected by rules designed to limit overdevelopment and preserve its rural character. Traffic is another major concern. Boynton Beach Boulevard, especially near the Florida Turnpike, is already heavily congested throughout the day.
Adding thousands of new homes would only intensify those conditions, particularly with The District recreational complex expected to draw even more traffic. For now, West Boynton residents are watching closely as they wait to see if formal plans reach county commissioners—and what that could mean for the future of the Ag Reserve. Boynton now exceeds 5,000 people per square mile and feels crowded. As open land vanishes and growth accelerates despite long-term planning, residents are left wondering how much more the city can absorb.
New Parking Laws For Boynton Beach Start Next Week

Beginning February 1, 2026, new parking regulations will take effect in Boynton Beach. The updated rules place significant restrictions on parking along streets, yards, easements, and swales, with long-term street and yard parking no longer permitted. Temporary yard parking will still be allowed for special events, but only for periods under 12 hours. Vehicles may not block sidewalks, which must remain clear at all times. Inoperable vehicles - including those with flat tires, missing license plates, or broken windows - will be prohibited under the new law. Large trucks exceeding certain size limits, such as 18-wheelers, will be restricted to no more than 15 minutes on residential streets. The goals of the ordinance are to improve street appearance, ensure access for emergency vehicles, and enhance overall safety. The city plans to begin with public education before gradually moving to code enforcement and issuing citations.
