This Isn't Your Average Water Plant... And Wait Until You See The Park!
Green Cay is about to get a major glow-up in 2026
Clean, safe water is essential in Palm Beach County, where a groundbreaking project is underway to meet growing demand. The Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department is building a state-of-the-art facility at the Southern Region Water Reclamation Facility on Hagen Ranch Road in Boynton Beach, expected to be completed in late 2026. This innovative, drought-resistant facility will purify recycled water and replenish groundwater using underground aquifer sources.
The project will also create lakes and a 63-acre Green Cay Park at Hagen Ranch and Flavorpict Roads, featuring hiking trails and public access areas. A boardwalk will connect to the existing Green Cay Wetlands for easy access. An educational center, opening in late 2026, will teach schoolchildren and visitors about clean water technology and processes, showcasing this cutting-edge innovation while allowing the community to enjoy the natural beauty of the park and wetlands. We can’t wait to see it completed!
Palm Beach County Faces Difficult Choice: Tradition vs. Environment
Eternal Light Memorial Gardens is a Jewish cemetery in West Boynton. It’s seeking to expand into the Agricultural Reserve but needs waivers and re-zoning from Palm Beach County. The 49-acre cemetery, founded in 1978, will reach capacity in nine years. However, the expansion would violate the Ag Reserve’s 60/40 development-preserve rule, dropping the ratio to 50/50 for nearby Valencia communities and consuming 79 acres of preserved land.
County planners worry this sets a precedent that could erode long-standing protections, while supporters argue it’s necessary for the Jewish community’s future needs. The County Commission vote has been postponed from November 2025 to August 2026.
The Continued Government Shutdown Could Mean More Crime In Your Neighborhood

We’re now officially at day 35 of the government shutdown, tying the record for the longest shutdown ever. While Democrats and Republicans remain at a standstill, many people across the nation and right here in Boynton are suffering. Yesterday the government announced that SNAP benefits will restart, but only about half the normal amount will be provided.
Additionally, there will be a minimum two-week delay to load benefits onto EBT cards. While this is better than nothing, crime could spike as desperate people seek money to pay for food and other necessities. Boynton residents: It’s important to lock your vehicles and not leave valuables inside!
