Palm Beach County voters approved up to $455 million in bonds for parks and libraries during Tuesday’s election, paving the way for major improvements throughout the county. According to unofficial results released Wednesday, approximately 66% supported the $280 million parks bond, while 64% of eligible voters approved a separate $175 million library bond. The funding would help modernize aging recreational facilities, expand public amenities, improve beach access, and renovate libraries across Palm Beach County.
For Boynton Beach residents, potential projects include upgraded exhibits at Green Cay Nature Center, improvements at Caloosa Park, and enhancements at Canyon District Park. Other countywide projects could include new sports facilities, walking trails, and recreational spaces. The bonds would be repaid through property taxes over a period of up to 20 years, with additional taxes expected in future years. Although voters have authorized the funding, specific construction timelines and final project allocations have yet to be determined.

Ava Lakes Takes Another Step Forward In West Boynton
Erickson Senior Living has officially opened a sales and information center for Ava Lakes, the massive retirement community planned for 93.5 acres along Boynton Beach Boulevard, just west of Florida’s Turnpike. The new office, located at 8355 Boynton Beach Boulevard, allows prospective residents to explore floor plans, amenities, and services before the community opens. The first phase will include 273 independent-living residences, with the first residents expected to move in during late 2029.

Plans include an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, medical center, theater, pickleball courts, restaurants, walking paths, and a nature preserve. The buildings will feature reinforced concrete and hurricane-resistant windows, along with backup power systems designed to maintain air conditioning, refrigeration, hot water, and essential services during outages. Ava Lakes will serve adults ages 62 and older, offering maintenance-free living and access to continuing care. The development will replace a former nursery property along the rapidly growing western Boynton corridor.

Boynton Residents Have Spoken — And The Results Are Interesting!
What makes Boynton Beach such a special place to call home? We asked readers that question in Tuesday’s newsletter, and the results revealed some interesting surprises. While sunshine and beaches topped the list with 36% of the vote, the city’s convenient location wasn’t far behind. Together, these two choices accounted for more than two-thirds of the responses.
Perhaps most surprising was the lack of enthusiasm for restaurants, shopping, and outdoor recreation, which received just 9% combined. Meanwhile, friends and community earned a respectable 22%, suggesting that Boynton’s appeal extends beyond its beautiful surroundings. The results offer an interesting glimpse into what locals value most. Do you agree with your neighbors, or would you have voted differently?
